Lisyonok case, Lyubertsy - 1st place among 21 stores
The owner came with the task to grow reach and sales. In 23 months - ×15 profile visits, ×34 calls, 1st place in a 5 km radius, CPL in Yandex Direct 31.9 RUB.
When the owner came to me in May 2024, the task was simple: grow reach and lift sales. The kids store ‘Lisyonok’ in Lyubertsy - office supplies, kids goods and kids party supplies under one roof. At the start - a card with 15 reviews, 3% local traffic share and one call for all of May. Potential of the location and three categories not unlocked - the customer flow held on a core of regulars.
In 23 months without federal budgets, the store reached 1st place in a 5 km radius among 21 similar stores - ahead of all the ‘Detsky Mir’ stores in the district combined. This is a case about what works in local marketing when budget is limited and the path is one - maps, reviews, content. Direct budget - 4,000 RUB/month.
Key figures by April 2026
- ×15 profile visits to Yandex Business (193 → 2,944/month)
- ×34 ‘Call’ clicks (1 → 34/month)
- ×8.7 routes built (16 → 140/month)
- 3% → 22% local traffic share
- 1st place among 21 stores in a 5 km radius
- 4.3 → 5.0 Yandex rating
- 15 → 50 reviews (and 81 textless ratings)
- 10 → 318 products on the card
- 31.9 RUB Yandex Direct conversion cost (with VAT) at 3,928 RUB/month budget
About the client
‘Lisyonok’ is a district offline store in Lyubertsy on Rozhdestvenskaya St., 4. Unusual in that under one roof it unites three categories at once: office supplies, kids goods, and kids party supplies. A strength - ‘came for pens, also bought everything for a school morning party’ - and a challenge from the card structuring and content angle.
The main competitors in the radius are federal chains: in Lyubertsy several ‘Detsky Mir’ stores work at once, plus local office-supply stores (List, Bibigon+). The task is to compete with them for attention in Yandex Maps without federal-level budgets.
Entry point: May 2024
The client came via word of mouth with the request: ‘we need to grow reach and lift sales’. The store worked, but the owner saw the flow held on a core of regulars, while the location and assortment mix allow squeezing more. I honestly said: ‘Heard you - let’s try’, and got down to the audit immediately.
What I saw on the Yandex Business card:
- Photos - a handful. The card looks visually ‘empty’.
- Products - about 10. No descriptions, rubrics and categories not filled.
- Reviews - 15. Rating 4.3. No owner replies to reviews.
- Messenger not connected - the customer can’t quickly write.
- Traffic share vs competitors - 3%. In practice the card was ‘bare’.
- May stats - 193 profile visits, 16 routes, 1 call for the whole month.
Strategy: six months without ads
Given the limited starter budget I decided not to spread thin. The hypothesis was simple: Lisyonok has two real advantages over ‘Detsky Mir’ - prices and assortment mix (office + kids + party under one roof). So the question isn’t ads, it’s getting people to see the store on Maps and understand it suits them.
The plan for the first six months - work only with card organic: fill it to the brim, set up a review-collection-and-handling system, run regular content. Only when the card starts bringing stable traffic - plug in managed paid ads.
Stage 1. May - December 2024: pure organic
From May to December 2024 we worked without a single ruble on ads. Everything done was card filling, content and reviews.
What we did on the Yandex Business card
- Maxed out card filling: contacts, hours, rubrics, categories, description, messenger.
- Uploaded 300+ products with photos, prices and descriptions (by April 2026 the card has 318 products).
- Added a proper visual - photos of the store, displays, products, party items (by April 2026 - 269 photos).
- Launched regular posts - minimum once a week posts plus stories. Focus on bundles, seasonal themes (September 1, holidays, birthdays), new arrivals.
Reviews and reputation work
- Installed a QR code in the store - fast access to the review form.
- Sales staff softly, non-pushy suggest leaving a review to customers with whom contact has formed.
- Negative handling - we reply to every review, dig into specific situations, don’t slip into templates.
2GIS
In parallel we filled the 2GIS card - without further active running. The goal - take a place in the listings and not lose customers used to that map.
July 2024 - first results in two months
By end of July, two months after start, it became obvious the strategy was working: the card came alive, reviews flowed, profile visits grew. The owner saw movement both in the cabinet figures and in the store itself - and decided to continue without extra discussion. That’s probably the best format of confirmation a strategy worked: the client doesn’t doubt whether to move on.
Stage 2. December 2024 - present: Yandex Direct
When the card started bringing stable traffic, we shifted to paid ads. The standard route - connect ads via Yandex Business - I deliberately bypassed: I consider it weakly controllable (you can’t properly influence audiences, placements, bids). Instead we went into Yandex Direct.
What we launched
- 2 Unified Performance Campaigns (UPC) - text-graphic ads, currently both active.
- Master Campaign (MC) - run in parallel, as of April 2026 paused. Maybe will return later as an experiment.
- Strategy - pay per conversion. Key goals: ‘Get directions’ click, ‘Call’ click, Telegram visit.
Direct results for March 2026
| Metric | March 2026 |
|---|---|
| Impressions | 203,646 |
| Clicks | 820 |
| CPC | 4.79 RUB with VAT (3.93 RUB without VAT) |
| Budget (with VAT) | 3,928 RUB |
| Conversions (total) | 123 |
| - ‘Get directions’ click | 101 |
| - ‘Call’ click | 12 |
| - Telegram visit | 10 |
| CPL with VAT | 31.9 RUB |
| CPA in the Direct cabinet (without VAT) | 26.18 RUB |
Important nuance: the Yandex Business stats (2,944 profile visits, 140 routes, 34 calls) already include Direct traffic - users who click the ad land on the same card, and their actions are recorded in the common cabinet. That is, of 140 routes for March, 101 are attributed to Direct, of 34 calls - 12. This lets us clearly see what contribution to local traffic the paid channel makes, and manage the budget against a concrete CPL - 31.9 RUB with VAT.

What this means in practice
- Profile visits 15× more than May 2024 - the store gets seen.
- Routes to the store door 8.7× more. A direct conversion ‘viewed the card → drove over’. Of 140 routes in March 2026: 101 attributed to Direct, 39 pure organic from Maps, Search and Navigator.
- Calls 34× more: was 1/month, now 34. Of those, 12 via Direct, 22 organic.
- Rating grew from 4.3 to 5.0 with reviews going from 15 to 50 (and 81 textless ratings).
Position among competitors
Per Yandex Business as of the week April 13-19, 2026, Lisyonok holds 1st place by local traffic share among 21 similar stores in a 5 km radius - 22%. For comparison, in May 2024 it was 3%.
- Lisyonok - 22% (1st place).
- All ‘Detsky Mir’ in the district combined (5 points: 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 12th, 15th places) - around 31%.
- Nearest district competitors - List (office supplies) 8%, Bibigon+ (office supplies) 7%.
One small store in Lyubertsy without federal budgets takes nearly as much attention on Maps as all local ‘Detsky Mir’ stores combined. With a 1.4 ratio.
Reputation: from 4.3 to 5.0 in 23 months
At the start the card had unanswered reviews, including negative ones. We handled each separately - with facts, no templates, offering a solution. By April 2026 the rating locked in at 5.0, and new negatives are more pointed cases handled within the day.
By visitor assessment: product selection 100% (out of 25 reviews), staff 85% (out of 20), product quality 88% (out of 16). An atypical picture for district retail in the ‘kids goods’ niche, where negativity usually piles up faster than positive.
What was hard
Competing with a federal chain
The main competitor - ‘Detsky Mir’ - has several points in Lyubertsy with a huge range and federal ad budgets. Beating them head-on in paid ads is unrealistic, so the bet was on local Maps traffic and district reputation.
Wide range across three categories
Office supplies, kids goods and kids party items - essentially three different buyer scenarios on one card. We had to carefully structure rubrics, product categories and content so none of the categories ‘fell through’.
Negative handling
At the start the card had unanswered reviews, including negative ones. We handled each separately - with facts, no templates, offering a solution.
Seasonal demand
All three categories have different seasonality: peaks on September 1, New Year, March 8, party season and graduations. The content plan and promos are synced to those peaks, to not slump in the off-season and not miss the peaks.
What played a key role
- The owner and team were always in touch and met us halfway. Need a photo - done, need a comment on assortment - sent, need a promo set up - launched the same day. Without that level of engagement even a perfect card wouldn’t have given the result.
- We didn’t rush into ads. First six months we worked only with organic, so when Direct was hooked up it started on an already ‘warmed up’ card with rating 5.0 and live content. This directly affects conversion price.
- Skipping standard Yandex Business ads in favor of Direct on pay-per-conversion. Full control over strategy, placements, goals - and a transparent lead price of 31.9 RUB with VAT.
- Systemic review work. QR in store + soft staff request + handling every review - a combo that turned 4.3 into 5.0 in a year.
What’s next
The store works confidently, reach and sales grow sustainably. As of April 2026 we’re discussing the next step - a hand-coded PHP 8.4 site with full SEO optimization. The goal - put Lisyonok into the search listings on local queries (‘office supplies Lyubertsy’, ‘birthday goods Lyubertsy’ etc.) and prepare the infrastructure for an online store.
We continue to run the Yandex Business and 2GIS cards in regular mode, Direct - we maintain and tune. The focus right now is holding 1st place in local listings and lifting traffic share above 22%.
If you’re in a similar situation - small offline store, limited budget and the task to lift reach and sales - look at the ‘card + reviews + Direct on pay-per-conversion’ combo. Maps in 2026 are an underrated free traffic channel for district retail. And if you need an outside view - write in Telegram, I’ll review your card and tell you where the funnel breaks.
This case on VC.ru
An extended version with a ‘David and Goliath’ angle - small store against five ‘Detsky Mir’ stores in the district - is published on VC.ru: Case: a Lyubertsy store at 4,000 RUB/mo beat five ‘Detsky Mir’ stores on Maps.
